Our Summer Celebration takes place at Gorsley Chapel near Ross on Wye on Saturday 29th June at 6.00pm. This is an opportunity for Trust supporters and team members past presnt and future to learn what the Trust has been doing over the past 12 months.

We are taking last minute applications for the 2013 Summer Team, departure date 16th July for 3 weeks. The team will spend time in Bluefields extending a raised walkway across a swamp to improve access to the Mary Ann Vocational Centre and nearby homes. We also plan to do further refurbishment work in Bluefields hospital.

The Trust sent another aid container on Friday 1st March, filled almost entirely with medical equipmment and supplies bound for Bluefields Hospital. We are very grateful to those UK medical and care institutions who have donated this equipment.The 2013

Dental team treated 546 patients, carrying out 756 extractions in 8 days in locations ranging from Bluefields to Tasbapauni, and from La Barra to Karawala and beyond.

The new 2013 coffee crop is now available. It is an excellent product, and the farm is prospering under our new manager, Misael Pineda.

The Trust has opened a shop in The Maltings, Ross on Wye to promote our work and to raise much needed funds for our aid container mission. The Peace and Hope Shop has a range of quality used household goods and furniture, and a wide range of latin american craft, sourced from Nicaragua and the region, including pottery, wooden bowls, scarfs, alpaca blankets and bags. Call in to browse, chat and have a coffee.

Work on the Matagalpa Eco Lodge is now complete, and will serve as a training facility to promote the cultivation and use of Moringa as a nutritional aid. On 31st July 2012, an opening ceremony was held, the lodge dedicated and named The Michael Cole Eco Lodge in honour of the Trust's founder, Sqd Ldr Mike Cole OBE.

The Trust is always on the lookut for surplus medical equipment which can be sent to Nicaragua. Many clinics and hospitals are in desperate need. Please contact us if you can help.

We are piloting a bamboo house design which could be a low cost solution for the desperate housing conditions on the Bluefields Rubbish Tip community.
